Atlético de Madrid beat Valencia CF 1-0 to close in on LaLiga title

Atlético Madrid took a major step towards winning the LaLiga title on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Valencia CF at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The only goal of the game came in the 58th minute when Ángel Correa fired home from close range after good work from Marcos Llorente down the right.

The win moved Atlético eight points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table with just four games remaining.

Valencia CF missed chance to move into top four

Valencia CF missed the chance to move into the top four of LaLiga after they were beaten 1-0 by Atlético Madrid on Sunday.

The defeat leaves Valencia CF in fifth place, two points behind Sevilla and Real Betis.

Valencia CF have now lost their last three league games and will need to improve their form if they want to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Atlético Madrid now in control of title race

The win over Valencia CF was Atlético Madrid's third in a row and it has put them in a strong position to win the LaLiga title.

Atlético Madrid now have a eight-point lead over Real Madrid and they need to win just two of their remaining four games to secure the title.

Atlético Madrid's next game is against Real Sociedad on Wednesday before they face Osasuna, Granada and Real Valladolid in their final three games of the season.
