A Liverpool fan has died after being hit by a car on a motorway in Italy. The 53-year-old, who has not been named, was walking along the A4 motorway near Milan when he was struck by a vehicle at around 3am on Wednesday, May 25. He had just landed at Orio al Serio airport after watching Liverpool's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Paris. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the Italian police said: "We are investigating the incident and trying to establish how the man came to be on the motorway. "We are also trying to identify the driver of the vehicle that hit him." Liverpool FC has released a statement expressing its condolences to the man's family and friends. The statement said: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of one of our supporters following the Champions League final in Paris. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time." The man's death is the second tragedy to hit Liverpool fans in the space of a week. On Saturday, May 28, two Liverpool fans were killed and three others were injured in a suspected terror attack outside a bar in Istanbul.
